Obituary of Janice Gwin

Janice Gwin November 8, 1918 – February 3, 2006 Janice (Knight) Gwin was born in Discovery Bay and lived most of her adult life at Lake Quinault. She married Glen Gwin during his WWII service. They built a home and raised their family there. She spent many enjoyable hours maintaining her home and grounds, in a picturesque country setting, complete with cattle and elk in their field across a creek. Janice retired in November of 1978, from her office career with the USFS. She enjoyed many fine friends, relatives, and her church. In 1994, following an active retirement and her husband’s passing. Janice was beset by health issues and went to live in Petersburg, Alaska, with her daughter, Roberta and family. She remained there until all relocated to Tumwater in the summer of 2000, when Janice became a resident of Olympics Retirement Community. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Herrera (Joe) of Tumwater, and her son, Charles (Sharlon) of Olympia, as well as grandchildren: Theresa Litsheim of Petersburg, Janice Summerville of Juneau, Rita Holbert of Tumwater, Rick Herrera of Portland, Jim Herrera of Port Orchard, Mary Acuff of Suwanee, Georgia and Rosalinda Fenwick of Orlando, Florida; 23 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
