Obituary of Roberta Ailene Dockins

Roberta Ailene Dockins, 89, a resident of Olympia for 50 years, died April 2, 2006. She was born to Caleb Clem and Eula Mae (Baker) Grigg in Lydia, Texas on July 8, 1916. She left home to get on the job training to become a nurse at Clarksville Hospital where she met her future husband, Thomas H. Dockins. They were married on May 16, 1942. Her husband joined the United States Army and when he was close to retiring he asked to be stationed at Fort Lewis and became the head of the X-ray department. They settled in Olympia. She is survived by her son, Thomas H. Dockins, Jr. of Edmonds; 2 daughters, Roberta “Bobbie” Woods (Ray), of Alliance, Ohio and Beth Dockins, of Olympia; 2 sisters, Sally Crawford (Corky), of Bishop, California and Mary Peduchi (Gigi), of Tucson, Arizona; also 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Preceding Roberta in death are her husband, Thomas H. Dockins, Sr.; her parents, Caleb Clem and Eula Mae (Baker) Grigg; 3 brothers, Melton Grigg, J. C. Grigg, and Homer Grigg; 1 grandson and 1 great grandson. A private family service will be held.
