Maxine Brown

Obituary of Maxine J. Brown

none Maxine J. Brown touched our lives in ways that we will keep in our hearts forever. She was a loving, caring, and devoted wife and mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Raising her family and homemaking was her life’s work. Maxine taught us how to live each day to the fullest. Her joy of life and her strength through difficult times left a legacy to everyone she touched. Born June 15, 1931, Maxine began her life in Olympia, Washington, where she enjoyed spending time with her mom and dad and her siblings. Maxine graduated from Olympia High School in 1949. She worked as a secretary in the Vocational Agriculture Director’s office during that same year. She married Wesley Brown on July 14, 1950. Wesley served in the United States Army Infantry from 1950 to 1971. Maxine enjoyed her life as a military wife, living in California, Okinawa, Georgia, Washington State, Germany, Kansas, Illinois, and Alaska. She and Wesley settled in Olympia, Washington after Wesley’s retirement in 1971. Maxine quickly became active serving God. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and she enjoyed being a part of the Wedding Reception Committee and the LWML Annual Bazaar. Her commitment to God influenced her life and those who knew her. She loved to be surrounded by family, and she was often found reading and cooking with her great grandchildren, Ethan and Wyatt. Her caring and loving words of wisdom to her grandchildren and children and to those who knew her will continue to enhance our lives as we go forward. Our family wishes to thank the Providence Hospice staff for carrying out Mom’s wishes to spend her final days at home and in peace with her family and friends. We will continue to carry Maxine in our hearts and live our lives to the fullest as Maxine lived her life. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice or to Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice, PO Box 5008, Lacey, Washington 98509. Services for Maxine Brown will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 21st and Franklin, Olympia.
