Obituary of Suzanne Black

none Suzanne French Black died Oct. 4, 2005. She was born July 3, 1923, the fourth daughter of Dr. Linus Hiram French and Sue Brown French, in Seattle Washington. She married Charles Black in 1944 and had one child but divorced in 1945. She attended the UW and graduated in 1949 with a BS in math. She went to work for Boeing as a draftsperson and worked her way up to Research Engineer and retired from that position in 1982. Suzanne was a pioneer woman Engineer with a distinguished career at Boeing. After retirement Suzanne moved to Lopez Island and began to build a home. She was active in the Lopez Lions and the Lopez Grange. Though failing health caused her to spend her last years off Lopez, many here fondly remember her for her caring, her generosity and her wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her sister Cynthia Ashcraft, her son Charles Black, her daughter in law Leyardia Black, and one grandchild Aaron Black.
