Obituary of Milton Balzer

none Milton Balzer, 79, a thirty-seven year resident of Tumwater, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 of cancer in Monroe, Washington. Mr. Balzer was born January 11, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa to Ray and Effe (Van Nice) Balzer. In 1951 Milton married the former Alice Cummins in Olympia. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and then served a forty year career in civil service at Fort Lewis. He lived in Tacoma for ten years prior to moving to Tumwater in 1969. He was an avid outdoorsman and mechanic. His greatest love was his family. Survivors include his wife Alice Balzer of Yelm; three sons, Dan of Olympia, Rocky of Tumwater and Robert (Cora) of Bucoda; two daughters, Shirley Paniagua of Rainier and Sue (Wayne) Boyd; one brother, Arthur (Bernie) of Rainier; two sisters, Dorothy of Missouri and Charlotte of Iowa; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; also numerous neices and nephews. One son, David, preceded him in death. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Masonic Center, 521 North Street SE, in Tumwater.
