Obituary of Linda Ruth Van Hook-Briganti

Linda was born in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Elaine Van Hook. She graduated from Bogan High School in Chicago in 1967, and earned a Master’s degree in 1976 from California State University at Long Beach. She later became a State of Washington Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Linda worked for Senator William S. Day and the Washington State Senate Social and Health Services Committee, Senator William S. Day, Chairman, from the late 1970s to 1981. She married Vincent Briganti in 1983 in Boca Raton, Florida. After a few years, they moved to Olympia to raise their sons, Vincent, born in 1984, and Nicholas, born in 1987. Linda is survived by her husband; her sons; her mother, Elaine Holmberg; her brother, William A. Van Hook; and her stepsister, Lana Thompson. Her brother, Don, predeceased her in 2010. Linda was an active member of the PTA at Boston Harbor Elementary School and served as its President for a number of years. During the last years of her life, Linda was an advocate and counselor for people with ADHD, and also a chronic disease coach for the Boldt Diabetes Center where she had worked for more than 10 years. After Linda survived breast cancer in 2005, it attacked her again in a lethal form and took her life in just days. Throughout her life, Linda was a good friend, full of wise counsel, sound advice, and love. She was beautiful inside and out, smart, giving, thoughtful and caring. She was always doing for others. Her sons and her family were at the center of her heart. Please leave memories of Linda or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
