Obituary of Walter Jo Underwood

Walt went to be with The Lord on October 9, 2014, wrapped in the arms of his wife, children and dear friends. He was born to Author Tibbs Underwood and June Rose Spencer Underwood in Galvin, Washington, on June 20, 1930. He graduated from Olympia High School and joined the United States Navy. Walt honorable served his county for 25 years. While in the Navy, Walt graduated from the University of Washington with Bachelor’s Degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering. Walt was introduced to the love of his life, Mary Jane Walker, by his brother, Reverend James Underwood. Walt and Mary were married after a one-week courtship. In their 57-year marriage, they had four children, Michael (Anthony), Frances (Michael), Warren (Robin), and Melissa (Michael); 10 grandchildren, Spencer, Sondra, Malia, Symonne, Joseph, Devin, Drew, Makalia, Savannah, and Jewel; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Sloan. Walt is survived by his wife, children, two sisters, Patricia and Ruthanne, 19 nieces and nephews, and dear friends – all of whom he loved.
