Obituary of Marlene Carol Thompson

Marlene was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Arthur G. and Dagmar A. Hudtloff. She grew up in Lakewood on Steilacoom Lake. Marlene attended Park Lodge Grade School, Clover Park High School, Stephens College for Women, Capital Business College and South Puget Sound College. She married and had three children: Wallace Lee Duggan (Lena), Lori Marlene Scamahorn (Al) and Holliss Carol Duggan. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Marlene loved to play the harp and played all around Tacoma, Lakewood and Spanaway areas for weddings, funerals and churches. Her husband and best friend, Allen, is also a musician and played guitar. They often played together for church gatherings. Marlene retired from the Thurston County Treasurer’s Office. She also worked at North Thurston School District and was a secretary to many local attorneys in the Olympia and Lakewood area. Marlene was the first woman car salesman in Olympia. Marlene loved her family and friends. She and Allen loved their dogs with a passion and considered them family. In lieu of gifts, Marlene would appreciate a donation to the Thurston County Humane Society. Their mailing address is PMB #397, 3403 Steamboat Island Rd. NW, Olympia WA 98502.
