Obituary of Birth: Death: Service Information:

After a long life well lived, Louise A. Tamblyn died on April 1, 2013, with her daughter at her side. She was born to Ludwig and Lillie Heitzmann on December 28, 1915, in Weathers, Arkansas. Her family farmed in Arkansas, Texas, and New Mexico during the heart of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl era. Though Louise seldom spent a full year at any one school, she was graduated as valedictorian of her high school class in Portales, New Mexico. When her father learned that Lewis County, Washington was much like his ancestral region in Germany, he and the family moved to the Winlock area. Louise married Jesse Wells and from that union came Louise’s only child, her daughter, Carol Ann. The young family lived in Chehalis until Jesse died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 39. Louise and Carol moved in with Louise’s parents on their farm in Winlock. Later, Louise married Waldo Tamblyn and settled into a newly built home in Olympia, where she lived for over 63 years. She was thoroughly committed to her family and expressed great pride in their many accomplishments. Louise is survived by her daughter, Carol Carlson (James); two granddaughters, Betty Carlson (Thierry Jouanneteau) in Rodez, France, and Cathy Thome (Mark) of Tumwater; four great granddaughters, Brennan and Amy Thome, and Charlotte and Daphne Jouanneteau in France; and brother, George Heitzmann (Shirley) in Winlock. She is also survived by her stepson, Wayne Tamblyn (Elaine) of Sparks, Nevada; his four children, Brian, Cindy, Jason, and Kevin; and six step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her little sister, Birdie, who died at age five; her brother, Leo; both husbands; and her stepson, Eldon Tamblyn. Louise will be laid to rest in a Catholic Graveside Committal ceremony at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tumwater, on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Martin’s Abbey Church Events, 5000 Abbey Way SE, Lacey, WA 98503. Please leave memories of Louise or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
