Dorothy Rebman

Obituary of Dorothy Louise Rebman

Dorothy Louise Rebman was born August 13, 1927, to Rex Kidd and Esther Mae Churchill Kidd in Dayton, Washington, near Shelton. She was the sixth of seven children. Dorothy attended schools in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School. She married Stan Dyson and had two sons, Ivan Dyson and Jimmy Dyson. Later, Dorothy married Morrie Rebman, who had two sons, George Rebman and Jack Rebman. Together, Dorothy and Morrie had a daughter, Michelle Jensen, whom Dorothy referred to as Debbie. Dorothy is survived by her son, Ivan Dyson; her daughter, Michelle Jensen (Matt); grandchildren, April (Nate), Paul, Ben, Jason (Shantelle) and their son, and Heidi (Adam); six great grandchildren; her niece, Joyce Fleshman; and her stepsons, Jack Rebman and George Rebman, with their spouses and children. Dorothy is also survived by many dear friends whom she loved and mentored. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters; and her son, Jimmy. Over the years, Dorothy lived in Shelton, Elma, River Park and Lacey, Washington. Dorothy faithfully worshipped at Faith Assembly of Lacey until she became too weak to attend. She taught many Bible studies for many years, and was used by God to help heal hearts and relationships. She was a teacher/leader/mentor to many woman and men. Her most important goal in any of her Bible studies was to encourage/urge/compel people to seek Jesus and know Him through His Word, the Bible. She always said, “People have got to read their Bibles! They can’t know God if they don’t read the Word.” Dorothy was a dignified lady, believing in doing all things properly and well. She believed in dressing up for church because it honored God. She believed in keeping a clean home because it honored her family, guests and God. She was submitted to her authorities: God, her husband, her pastor. She believed in doing what was right because she loved the Lord. One of her favorite places was outdoors. She loved working her gardens and walking in the woods. She loved animals and especially cats, kittens and birds. In her last days, she enjoyed the simple things in life: the view of the sky, trees, blue jays and squirrels outside her window; the laughter of a child; hearing the Word as her friend, Theresa, read to her; the warmth of her soft bed; the wonderful meals prepared by Jeremy; and the visits from her friends. She told Jeanne that Jeremy and Theresa were now part of her family. She appreciated them so much. Although she had pain, she also had peace. She knew where she was going to spend eternity and the knowledge of being with Jesus was a comfort. Dorothy Rebman, 86, went home on June 24, 2014.
