Obituary of Jessie Ramsey

Tribute to Great Grandma Jessie by Jessica Pella (written in 2005) My hero is Jessie Nicholson Ramsey. Jessie is my great grandma. She is 86 years old and I’ve known her for 10 years. Jessie Ramsey was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 23, 1918 and moved to Portland, Oregon by ship when she was three years old. Now Jessie lives in Olympia, Washington. On the ship she took to America, one of her aunts died from pneumonia. When they got to New York, they took a train to Portland, Oregon. Jessie likes to do crossword puzzles and read and used to like to do ceramics, knit and travel. Jessie is a generous, kind, positive, caring, and loving grandma. She’s helped me be a better person because she’s a good role model. My great grandma Jessie’s my hero because if she were someone else, my family may not have believed in school, and I wouldn’t like school. My great grandma Jessie and I enjoy doing crafts together and learning. When I visit her, she normally has crafts like crayons and markers to color with and once we painted cars for my cousin and brother. We also painted small birdhouses for my mom, dad, aunt, and I. Also, we made a picture frame for me. Also, she’s always ready to teach me new things! It’s very unlikely for us to be board. Thank you great grandma Jessie for all you’ve done for my family and I. I wish there was no such thing as death so I could be with you my whole life. I can’t wait until our next visit to color and read together. Please leave memories of Jessie or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
