Obituary of Fredrick L. Raver

Fredrick passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Providence St. Peter Hospital of heart failure. He was born January 2, 1929, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Bert and Mary Raber. Fredrick lived in Ladysmith, Wisconsin as a child; when he was a young adult, the family later moved to Port Angeles. Fredrick served with the US Army from Jan-May 1951 receiving an Honorable Discharge for a heart murmur. He married Dorena Sims October 19, 1968, at the Baptist Church in Port Angeles, WA. They moved to Forks where he and his wife raised their family. He received a 9th grade education and 1 year of Business College to work at the Daily Newspaper in Port Angeles. He then was a log truck driver for ITT Rayonier for 25 years and multiple other logging outfits until retirement. He enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, gardening, farming, reading Western novels and spending time with his family and friends. Fred was blessed with the gift of gab and was often the light of the party. Fredrick will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Dorena, stepson Chad Dennis of Spokane, WA, daughters Vicky Raber Bloomfield of Shelton, WA, and Maryann Raber Seed of Marysville, WA and brother Freeman Raber of Port Angeles, WA and 5 grandchildren. His parents Bert and Mary Raber preceded him in death. A private family gathering will be held at a later time. Funeral Arrangements are by Funeral Alternatives of Washington.
