Pamela Maybee

Obituary of Pamela Denise Maybee

Our beloved Pam – wife, mother, gramma, sister, aunt, great aunt, friend and co-worker – passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Pam was born June 3, 1953 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Maurice and Dorothy Christoffer. She was the sixth child of ten who all moved to Washington in 1957. The car was very crowded so she rode for a time up in the back window of the car during their long drive to Washington. Pam attended local schools and grew up in the Olympia/Lacey area. On September 19, 1970, she married Robert “Bob” Maybee. They had three children, Jason (Melinda) Maybee of Lacey, Washington, Kristen Leeberg of Lacey, and Jared (Teresa) Maybee of Belton, Texas. Pam and Bob also have nine wonderful grandchildren, Tiah, Justin, Trissa, Alexis, Justice, Jaycee, Alex, Ariana and Jack. Pam and Bob were married for over 43 years. Pam worked briefly for the State of Washington Superintendant of Public Instruction and then, in 1986, started working for North Thurston County Public Schools, working in that system for almost 28 years, most recently at Lacey Elementary School. Pam enjoyed the outdoors with many great memories RV camping on the Toutle River, Browns Creek and the ocean among others. She also loved sports, having played softball for several years, and watching her children play assorted sports. Pam was also a big Mariner fan and an even bigger Seahawk “12th Man” fan. She also loved going to Reno and Las Vegas and the local casinos. The most important and proudest things in Pam’s life were her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her sisters, whom she loved unconditionally with all her heart. Pam is survived by her husband, Bob of Lacey; son, Jason (Melinda) of Lacey; daughter, Kristen of Lacey; son, Jared (Teresa) of Belton, Texas; nine grandchildren; six sisters, Sharon (Darrell) Ashby, Kathy (Carey) Harris, Jackie (Rick) Shoemaker, Jody (Russell) Sawtell, Julie (Ron) Weist and Merri (Doug) Thayer, all of the Olympia area; sisters-in-law, Carol Christoffer and Pat (John) Martens; brothers-in-law, Michael Maybee and Dennis Luper; best friend, Linda (Bill) Dicus; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Please leave memories of Pam or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
