I am very sorry to hear of Aunt Stella’s passing.I did not know her while I was growing up mainly because she was not around us, but I had the chance to visit her with my father Ed and my Uncle Martin a few years ago and I really enjoyed the time we spent with her at her place. I hope to someday be just as strong of a women that she was. She could fly through the Costco store faster than anyone I have ever met, and she was no young chicken either. She was able to get around on her own and take care of her house on her own and handle that big car of hers, I really thought she was amazing. I really looked up to her. I lost touch with her a few years ago, I tried to get in touch with one of her nieces, but with no luck. I thought of her alot and wondered if I would ever find her or find out what happened to her, so unfortunately I was glad to hear about her but not glad to hear that she passed away. She is with all her brothers and sisters now, and they are all back together and that makes it okay. I am so glad that I was able to make the trip to see her, and I will remember the fun times we had while we were there. Rest in peace Aunt Stella, I will miss you.

Aunt Stella was my mother’s sister. You are right -she was a fire-cracker as her brother used to call her…Her “joie de vivre” was catching to everyone around…I wish I had visited her in Washington state.
Maybe her niece would send us some stories/pictures about her if she has time….thank you, Debbie

Aunt Stella was the sister of my father, Martin Montague. We all loved when Aunt Stella came home to Ottawa and the Gatineau. She was so full of life. I remember her as quite mischievous and the life of the party. I have wonderful photos of her dancing with Dad at a McTague reunion. We are all so sad for her loss. I would love to hear from anyone from Don’s family who cared for and loved her so well.
Louise
