Obituary of Dennis Ray Kinney

Dennis Ray Kinney, 71, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013 after a three-month struggle with cancer. During those three months, he was grateful for the care, love, and concern of many family members and friends. He especially enjoyed cards and visits from his teammates on the 1958 Yelm High School basketball team, which won the state championship. Dennis was born in Sacramento, California on June 26, 1941 to Ray and June Kinney. He lived his 71 years to the fullest. After graduating from Yelm High School in 1959, he served in the Air Force for four years. He worked at Continental Can Company in Olympia, WA for 38 years and retired in 2002. On August 16, 1985, he joined Alcoholics Anonymous, and celebrated his sobriety birthday every year for the rest of his life. He loved his family and was a compassionate friend. Dennis devoted the last few years of his life to caring for Nancy Diane Shepherd, his sweetie of many years and high school classmate. Dennis was a fun-loving jokester (Hubba Hubba); he loved fishing with his buddies, golf, traveling, antiquing, dancing and music. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three beloved children, Tim Webb (wife Luann), Dwayne Webb (wife Debbie), and Debbie Kendall (husband Craig); by his siblings Dave Kinney (wife Renee), Dale Kinney (wife Dede) and Donna Donaldson (husband Kent); by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to neighbors and friends for all their support especially the three angels, Jill, Larry, and Debbie. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE in Tumwater, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alcoholics Anonymous will be appreciated. Please leave memories of Dennis or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
