Michael Kennedy passed away June 26, 2014, in Olympia, Washington. He was born April 30, 1947 to William J. and Marie (Wucherer) Kennedy in Elgin, Illinois. He was a 1965 graduate of Newport Harbor High in Newport Beach, California, and earned a BA in 1991 from The Evergreen State College in Olympia. In 1971, he married Denise Roe in Newport Beach, and began his 30-year telecommunications career with AT&T / US West / Qwest / CenturyLink. He loved spending time with his family. He and his son, Ian, enjoyed countless backpacking and canoeing trips with the Boy Scouts as Ian was growing up. He also enjoyed making contact with people all around the world with his ham radio gear. Mike’s final amateur radio call sign was K7WQ. Through the years, he was also KG7U, N6YP and WA6UIK. Michael is survived by his wife, Denise Kennedy; son, Ian (Kate) Kennedy of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Lisa (Dave) Cromar of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughters, Tegan and Katelyn; brother, Bill (Marcella) Kennedy of Corona del Mar, California; and sister, Pat (Jay) Bower of Santa Ana, California.
