Obituary of Joseph C. Keeley

Joseph Keeley, 92, passed away September 25, 2013 in Tumwater, Washington. He was born January 16, 1921 to Joseph E. and Claudia S. (Korrell) Keeley in Glendale, California. Joe graduated from Glendale High School in 1939, and performed on stage in little theater productions in 1939 and 1940 before joining the U.S. Navy. He served as a Signalman First Class aboard the battleship Tennessee during World War II and, after the war, married his sweetheart, Lorrayn Coulter, on September 17, 1944 in Glendale. Joe lost Lorrayn on September 6, 2004, after nearly 60 wonderful years together. Joe lived in Glendale (1921-1942), Canoga Park, California (1945-1948), Kent, Washington; Portland, Oregon; San Jose, California; Grass Valley, California; Shelton, Washington; Puyallup, Washington; and Tumwater, Washington, where he resided at The Hampton Alzheimers Care Center for the past four years. Joe was a very quiet man, but was also a wonderful story teller with a dry sense of humor. He had a background in accounting, and was interested in finance and the stock market. He worked in the auto industry for many years, and eventually started his own dealership—Joe Keeley Auto Sales in San Jose. After retiring from the used car business, he built his own home. He attended the Catholic Church most of his life. Joe is survived by his son, Dave Keeley of Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Rose Keeley Hosford of Olympia; and two grandchildren.
