Obituary of Cathy Lou Large Kee

Cathy Lou Large Kee passed away on September 8, 2014 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on May 18, 1951 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Charles O. and Anne Wallace Large. Cathy was married to Wally Kee on August 31, 1968 in Knoxville at Valley Grove Baptist Church. As a devoted military spouse, Cathy set her roots in several different communities. She lived in Hawthorne, Nevada from 1969-1978; Ogden, Utah from 1978-1989; Knoxville, Tennessee, 1989-2000; and in Olympia, Washington from 2000 until the time of her death. Cathy was a devoted wife, mother and Ma-Maw, spending countless hours on ball fields, in bleachers, and on sidelines supporting her son and four granddaughters. Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling each year to the SEC Baseball tournament. Also, she never met a craft she could not master. She spent much of her free time in the past several years crocheting outfits for infants with the Madigan Nannies. Cathy was preceded in death by her mother and father. Surviving are her husband, Wally; son Scott; daughter in law, Tami; sister, Patty Bell Kress; and granddaughters, Mikayla, Arianna, Olivia and Abigail, all of whom reside in the Olympia area. Cathy was also survived by her mother-in-law, Margaret Kee of Sevierville, Tennessee. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Monday, September 15, 2014, with a short program beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Olympia LDS Chapel, 3800 Henderson Boulevard SE, followed by receiving of friends. Interment will be Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Salvation Army, the Olympia Union Gospel Mission or a charity of your choice in Cathy’s name.
