Obituary of Patricia Gard Kautz

Patricia Gard Kautz, 87, passed away peacefully August 23, 2014. Born January 28, 1927 to Raymond and Agnes Sarvis, she was baptized at age eight in Norton, Kansas at First Baptist Church. After leaving Kansas during the Depression, she lived in various places across the U.S., settling in Littlerock, Washington in 1941. In 1944, she married Paul Gard; they divorced after many years. Later she married Don Kautz, who preceded her in death. During World War II, she was an enemy plane spotter. She worked as receptionist for the Dept. of Highways, and later in the office at Tumwater High School. Her last position was executive secretary at Providence SoundHome Health and Hospice. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Gard Bell of Hoquiam, and Kim Gard Hochstein of Olympia; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and sisters, Elaine Breck and Virginia Greene of Tumwater.
