Obituary of Joan Kent Ingram

Joan Kent Ingram, age 78, passed away peacefully in Olympia, Washington on July 2, 2014. Born August 30, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, she lived in Kelso, Washington during her childhood. Joan moved to Elma at age 19 to marry Paul R. Kent and raise their children. She later settled in Olympia. Joan will be remembered for her love of family, warmth, and giving heart. She adored her children and grandchildren, and was always proud to be “mom” and “grandma.” She loved her home, family gatherings, and spending quality time with family and friends. You could always count on Gram’s to share peppermint patties, pistachios, and a hearty meal. Joan was an avid Pinochle player and loved family games. She held several careers during her lifetime, and is admired for her strong will and hardworking nature. Joan was known for her passionate opinions, quick wit, and famous one-liners. In the classic words of Joan, “the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.” Joan is survived by her three children, Sandi Williams, Linda Ochsner (Allen), and Jim Kent (Jessica); grandchildren, Justin Ochsner, Lindsey Laneer (Adam), Trevin Williams (Chelsea), Tyler Ochsner, and Danielle Kent; three great grandchildren; dear sisters, Eleanor Pagliarulo, Judy Headdress, and Cheryl Wapes’a-Mayes; and cousins, Jack Lydic and Thelma Whatley. Joan was loyal, lifelong friends with Marlene and Jerry Richmond, and Elaine Peterson. She was preceded in death by her long-term companion, John Setina. Joan’s family extends their sincere appreciation for her care at Olympia Manor. Please leave memories of Joan or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
