Obituary of Steve Hays

Steve Hays Steve Hays, 67, passed away March 11, 2013 in Lacey, Washington, due to pulmonary failure. He was born September 17, 1945 to Alfred and Betty Hays in Olympia, Washington. Steve graduated from Olympia High School, and at various times also lived in Tenino, Tacoma and most recently in Rochester. He married Valerie Belasco December 18, 1982, served in the US Army, and professionally was an ILWU longshoreman. Steve enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with his family watching western movies, going to the ocean, and clam digging. Steve was the kindest person in the world. He never said anything bad about anyone and made others want to be better people. He also had a heart of gold and would never say no to anyone who needed help. He loved all his family very much, including his wife, Valerie; his daughter, Ashley, and son-in-law, Joseph; and his brother, Mike. Spending time with his granddaughters was his joy in life, and every moment he spent with his family was all he needed in life. He is survived by his wife, Valerie of Tenino, WA; daughter, Ashley French and her husband, Joseph of Olympia; granddaughters, Amellia Hays and Emily French; brother, Mike Hays of Lacey. Steve will be missed by many people and be remembered forever in their hearts and memories. Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Evergreen Christian Center, 1000 Black Lake Blvd. SW, Olympia 98502. Potluck/reception to follow.
