Obituary of Mary Jane Hatcher

Mary Jane Hatcher passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014, at her home in Tumwater, Washington. She was born in Rainier, Washington, on January 2, 1931, the fifth child of 10 born to Alfred and Carmen Needham. Jane was co-owner, with her late husband Bob, of Bob and Jane’s Barbershop in Tumwater in the 1950s and ‘60s. They then went to Alaska and worked in commercial fishing for a few years. When they returned, they traveled Washington and lived from Clallam Bay to Cheney and many places in between. They re-settled in Maytown in the ‘70s before moving to Lacey in the ‘90s. Jane retired from Cedar Creek Correctional Center in the ‘90s. Jane is survived by her son, Rod Hatcher and his wife Jan of Cayuga, Indiana; daughter, Connie Griffin and her husband “Griff” of Tumwter; six grandchildren, Sandra Hatcher of Tacoma, Washington, Greg Hatcher and wife Suzi of Olympia, Washington, Jacob and Lucas Hatcher of Indiana, Gary Griffin and wife Erin of Puyallup, Washington, and Misty Davidson of Olympia; six great grandchildren; sisters, Laura Allen of Olympia and Barbara Ann Shanks of Selah, Washington.
