Obituary of Dixie Lee Griffith

Dixie Lee Griffith was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Olympia, Washington at Mother Joseph Care Center. She was 71. Born on May 12, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, she lived with her husband and daughter in Olympia since 2006. Along the way, she lived in Sullivan, Missouri, Seattle, Washington, and spent most of her years in Anchorage, Valdez, Palmer, and Wasilla, Alaska. Dixie was a CNA at Valdez Community Hospital for 15 years, and served in the same capacity for 3 years each at Palmer Hospital and Providence Hospital (Anchorage) in Alaska. She loved the Lord, and was the most giving, generous, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, serving her husband, disabled daughter, and grandchildren with constant love, devotion, and dedication. Dixie attended Grace Community Covenant and Living Water churches in Olympia. She loved fishing Alaskan lakes, rivers, and inlets, including Prince William Sound, Seward, and the Talkeetna River, and made four jet boat fishing and hunting trips on the Yukon river covering over 1,600 miles. She also assisted her husband, Vernon, in constructing 10 homes. She enjoyed cooking, singing, playing piano and organ, and attending Christian music concerts and events. Most of all, she loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Mark and daughter Monica, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vernon Griffith; her daughter, Connie Rose; her grandsons, John LeMar, Timothy Rose, Samuel Rose; and granddaughter, Laura Rose.
