Obituary of Harriet Gouley

Harriet passed away in Skokomish, Washington on August 7, 2013, 13 days short of her 78thbirthday. She was born August 20, 1935 to Alex and Grace (Peterson) Gouley in Skokomish. She graduated from Skokomish Grade School and Shelton High School, and attended Northwest Bible College, Bates Technical Institute, and Olympic Community College, receiving her Registered Nurse license. Her passion was health education, informing people of cancer risks, screening and prevention. Harriet was proud of her American Indian heritage, and loved her family deeply. She is survived by sons, Mitch, Mike and Perry Carrington; daughters, Lisa Carrington and Marcy Tinaza; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Gouley of Skokomish; sisters, Lila Vigil of Hoodsport, Carol Cordova of Union, and Marie Gouley of Lake Cushman. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Albert, Alex and Clyde Gouley; and sister, Nancy LaClair. There will be a viewing beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Skokomish Indian Assembly of God, 19252 N. US Highway 101, Skokomish Nation, WA 98584. The service will be at the church on Tuesday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. The graveside inurnment will take place at Shelton Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15.
