Eva Goldberg

Obituary of Eva Goldberg

Eva Goldberg died peacefully at her home on May 14, 2013, just three months shy of her 100th birthday. This beautiful, graceful lady was born in Portland, Oregon to Frieda and Emil Charlet on August 21, 1913. Eva spent her early years in Eugene, Oregon with her two sisters, Sarah and Jo. She graduated from Centralia College at a time when many women did not. Eva met the love of her life, Alan Goldberg, and they moved to Olympia to start a family. Eva was a true lady, hosting teas and serving as a welcoming committee to new young families. She could often be seen delivering her homemade chicken soup, cheese wafers and cookies to friends who needed cheering up. Eva was a docent at the Governor’s Mansion for many years, a strong supporter of women’s causes and was recently recognized for her support of mental health issues. Eva was very committed to Temple Beth Hatfiloh and was the visionary behind the new building. Eva’s commitment to her family was paramount. Sons Fred and Howard remember her always dressing for dinner and have fond thoughts of her as a Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Eva Goldberg was preceded in death by her husband, Allie; and sister, Sarah. She is survived by her sister, Jo; son, Fred (Carolyn); son, Howard (Marcia); five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. This gracious lady will be greatly missed by her family and by all those who were touched by her kindness. Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m., May 17, 2013, Jewish Cemetery, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater. Please, no flowers. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
