Obituary of John E. Croke

John E. Croke, III, 71, a longtime resident of Rhode Island, died December 10, 2014 in Olympia, Washington, after a brief illness. Son of John E. Croke Jr. and Gertrude (Grimes) Croke, he was born in Providence and raised in Pawtucket. A graduate of Our Lady of Providence Seminary and Rhode Island College, he was a naval veteran of the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Tecumseh SSBN-628. He retired from the Army Reserve after 16 years as a Sergeant First Class. In addition to his wife, Miriam Silva, he is survived by two beloved daughters, Alison L. Croke of Wakefield, RI, and Aimee L. Pimental of Bristol, RI, and two beloved grandchildren, Sophie and JJ Pimental. Also surviving are four siblings, Dr. Andrew G. Croke of Stoughton, MA, Dr. Gertrude R. Toher of Lincoln, RI, Constance E. Michaud of Cape Coral, FL, and Virgina F. Hitt of Naples, Florida. He was Uncle John to many nieces and nephews.
