Obituary of Fay E. Conroy

Fay E. Conroy, age 86, was born to Forest and Elsie (Lanke) Conroy February 16, 1928 in Colfax, Washington. He passed away June 22, 2014 in Olympia, Washington due to a sudden onset of illness. Fay grew up in Spokane, Washington, graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, and attended the University of Washington, earning a civil engineering BA. He resided in Chester, Montana, and several places in Washington, including Othello, Seattle, Tumwater and Olympia. Sisters, Betty and Blanche, and brother, Bob (Judi), survive Fay. His nine nieces and nephews remember him as a generous “character.” During his career, he worked for several private engineering firms, the Federal Bureau of Reclamation, and prior to his retirement worked as an Environmental Engineer for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Fay loved traveling, backpacking, attending the Shakespeare Festivals in Ashland, Oregon, and was an avid supporter of the arts. He greatly enjoyed taking visitors to the Olympia Farmers Market. He was a lifetime member of the University of Washington Alumni Association. Memorial donations may be made to the local food bank of your choice.
