Connie Robinson

Obituary of Connie Jean Robinson

Connie Jean Robinson passed away July 11, 2023, in Olympia, Washington.  She was born May 8, 1949, to Neil and Patricia Johnston in Bellingham, Washington, and lived throughout Thurston County for more than 50 years.

Connie graduated from Tenino High School with the Class of 1967 and attended Centralia College and Western Washington University. Professionally, she was a substitute instructional assistant for Thurston County Schools in the 1990s and worked several food and customer service jobs in the 1990s and 2000s.  Her true vocation, though, was volunteering - in her children’s schools, with her church and regional Presbyterian Women, at the downtown Olympia Senior Center, in the offices for SideWalk; when she saw those in need, she felt it her responsibility to step up.  She married Gordon Robinson, with whom she shared a deep dedication to those around them, on June 10, 1972; he passed away on May 21, 2021.

Connie could memorize a song after hearing it three times, and sang every spare moment she could.  She was a voracious reader, and channeled her creative juices into jewelry making.  She was talkative, bubbly, and enthusiastic in her friendships. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1985 through 2023, serving as a deacon and Vacation Bible School leader among other responsibilities.

Connie is survived by her son, Jeffrey Robinson, his wife, Michelle Williams Robinson, and their daughter, Clara Robinson; daughter, Amy Robinson, and her husband Alexander Broner; brother, Robert Johnston, and wife, Renee Johnston; and sister-in-law, Nancy Stewart. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; and brother, Donald Johnston, and his wife, Donna.

Services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Rd. SE, Olympia, WA 98501. A potluck lunch will follow.  Memorial donations may be made to the church.
