Obituary of Sharon Dziekonski
Sharon Dziekonski passed away on June 27, 2023 after having a long, happy and very busy life. She was born on April 8, 1936 in Olympia, Washington to Ray and Martha Linderson. She was the last living grandchild of Samuel and Matilda Boone and the next to youngest of Frank and Linnie Linderson. She raised three children: John Horn of Tumwater, Jim (Wendy) Horn of Lacey, and Marta Pier of Pe Ell. She was a wonderful grandma to Richard (Shannon) Cassou of Lacey, Kai (Gina) Maxwell of Yakima, and Patty (A.J.) Rogers of Boisfort. Sharon was blessed to have earned the title of Great – Grandma to Jase Cassou, Harmony Rogers, Violet Rogers, and Dalton Rogers.
Sharon graduated from Olympia High School in 1954 where she was actively involved in the music program. She played piano for Boys Chorus. She sang in a number of school choruses including Mixed Chorus, Girls Glee and Girls Ensemble. She also sang at many weddings and funerals.
Sharon wore many hats in her long life. She held the titles of Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great – Grandma. Family was the most important thing to Sharon with trips to Disneyland, rock hunting on the coast, road trips across the Midwest, and taking pictures at every family event just to name a few. She also wore the hat of Stenographer at Pacific Finance, L&I, Bookkeeper for Seattle 1st National Bank, Assistant to Dr. O’Leary at Thurston County School Superintendent’s Office, Assistant clerk and Stenographer for City of Lacey, Court Clerk at City of Lacey, Secretary for Washington State Check Investigators and last but not least Retired Police Officer for the Lacey Police Department. She found her passion when she opened Olympia Doll Hospital in Tumwater, Washington. At the doll hospital Sharon would repair damage to dolls of all kinds. After years of having the doll hospital in Tumwater she relocated the repair business to her home in Olympia.
She married Jim Dziekonski in Hawaii where she added the hat of beach goer and turtle watcher. Sharon was not one to sit still on the beach, so she added yet another hat of Project manager for Building Consultant for Military Projects.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Jim. Her three children also waited for her at Heaven’s Gates. Jim Horn passed away in December of 2013, John Horn in October of 2016 and Marta Pier in August of 2017.
Sharon wished to be cremated and buried with her daughter, Marta at Odd Fellows Memorial Park in a shared grave with her father. Her family has planned a Celebration of Life for this wonderful woman on August 19, 2023. The celebration will take place at The Church of the Risen in Olympia Washington at 1:00 pm. All who knew Sharon are welcome to attend and share memories and laughter as Sharon would want.
