Obituary of James Joseph Seed

James Joseph “Jim” Seed passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home in Olympia, Washington, surrounded by his loved ones. Jim was born on November 1, 1947, in Olympia to John and Dorothy (Welch) Seed. Jim was a resident of Olympia for 75 years.

Jim married the love of his life, Marilyn Doss on November 23, 1976. They had four children, David, Jennifer, Jamie, and Miki. Jim was a truck driver for most of his life.

Jim loved old machinery and worked in his shop, woodworking. He enjoyed collecting antiques and fixing them to working order. He also enjoyed road trips, watching wildlife, and his “porch time.” He was a former member of the Thurston County Jeep Patrol Search and Rescue, California & Oregon Trail Association, Turning Point Church, and Olympia Metro Assembly of God. Jim liked to talk and engage with strangers, often times offering them a small wooden cross.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn Seed; his daughters, Jennifer (Bill) Thomas, Jamie (Marcia) Lee-Burnett, and Miki Lee; his sister, Mary; his grandchildren, Alissa (Matt), Lydia, Ashley (Clay), Erica, William, and Jace; and his great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Amara.
