Obituary of Adrian "Sonny" McCarr
Adrian “Sonny” McCarr passed away at the age of 67 on June 3, 2023. He is now in heaven with his relatives who have moved on from this realm. Sonny was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 18, 1956.
Sonny is survived by his sister, Gloria "Chickie" McCarr; niece, Angie McCarr; cousin, Christie Carralez; the Phillip's family in Alaska. He is now resting in peace with his parents, John and Jennie McCarr; and his beloved nephew, Dennis McCarr.
Sonny spent many years living in the family home village in Bethel, Alaska, fishing and living his ancestors’ way of life. Then in the mid-1980s Era, he returned home to Washington. His sister, Chickie, had two children, Dennis and Angie. He stepped in as a father figure and assisted in raising them as his own by her side. Unbelievable love and appreciation to him for being an amazing provider to his family.
During these years of life, Sonny enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hosting BBQs along with camping trips. He was a social man, always enjoying good company and food. He enjoyed working on cars and rebuilding them. He taught his life skills to Dennis and Angie so they could become strong individuals.
Sonny absolutely loved his dogs, Rosco, Brutis, and Keno. They were everything to him and he loved their companionship; they were his best friends. If you ever hung out with Sonny in the "Good Ole Days," Whooommbaaahh has a meaning of a good drink and fond memories of dancing. Sonny also enjoyed being a part of the family business by assisting his nephew, selling fireworks to local communities in Washington. This was his favorite family time of year, talking, joking with friends, and seeing people. When small children would be around crying, he would become a baby whisperer and all kids fell in love and would fall asleep on him. If you ever found yourself in a bind, he would come to the rescue, no questions asked.
The last few years were rough on Sonny’s health. He always had the will to live and fight and overcome his challenges. The biggest challenge he faced was becoming an amputee and relearning how to live with one leg. His attitude was most admirable in that respect; it never changed who he was and how he lived his life.
Services will be held on July 23, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacob Smith House, 4500 Intelco Loop SE, Lacey, WA 98503
