Obituary of Stephanie Louise Rogers Harris

Stephanie Louise Rogers came into our lives in a whirlwind on March 3, 1986.

I was holding our mom’s hand as her dad stared in awe, dumbfounded and speechless as she entered into this world. Blond hair, blue eyes, and bright rosy cheeks. My brothers and I fell in love with her instantly. She was the center of our world and Aaron called her our “My Little Buddy” doll. Thus sanctioned the nickname “Buddy” for the rest of her life.

She was the light of our lives and filled our hearts with joy. She left a dark hole when she left us unexpectedly on July 9, 2023.

Stephanie was a ray of sunshine, and brought light, love, and happiness whenever she entered a room.   Always late and worth the wait…  But the party started as soon as she got there!

Her brightness and energy were contagious, and she easily lifted the spirits in the room. She was so much fun!  Cheerful, kind, gentle and compassionate. Loving everyone and everyone around her.

Stephanie’s pride and joy was her daughter Layla. She poured her heart and soul into being the best mother possible and accomplished that goal successfully. She was always doing projects and activities with her daughter, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and being creative.  Stephanie’s top priority was always her daughter and she loved her more than anything else in the world.

Music was a huge part of Steph’s life, and my life with her. We were able to attend many concerts and live music over the years. I can still see her out of the corner of my eye, dancing, singing, and loving on me. And she’d sneak in a selfie whenever she could.

Stephanie lost her dad when she was 13 years old and missed him terribly.  I would like to think she’s somewhere with him dancing and singing with a drink in her hand, sneaking a kiss on the cheek, and taking a selfie.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, Steven, in 1999. She leaves behind her beautiful daughter, Layla; husband, Josh; mother, Marilyn (Chris); siblings, Aaron , Jon (Gina) and Denise (Chris); as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

As part of her love of music and fun, we invite you to join us for a party in her honor with lots of food, drink, music, and joy. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Shores Beach House, 7540 Lakeside St. SW, Olympia, WA 98512. Stop in anytime. Bring your guitar and anything you want to share and sing one for Steph!!

In lieu of flowers, we will be setting up a fund for Layla. You may contact Denise Mitchell for details of the fund or more about the celebration.
