Obituary of Leslie Andrew Fosmire

Leslie Andrew Fosmire passed away June 25, 2023, in Tacoma, Washington. He was born October 23, 1934, to Howard and Edwina Fosmire in Camden, New Jersey.  Les was a resident of Cogir at the Narrows Senior Living in Tacoma for the past year and he had resided at Jubilee in Lacey for 18 years.  He raised his family in Selah, Washington, and grew up primarily in Bremerton, Washington.

 

Les graduated with Bremerton High School Class of 1953, served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957, and married Jeanine Denevan on December 1, 1956, in Long Beach, California.  He earned a BA from the University of Washington and became a lifelong Husky fan. He then continued his education, earning an MS from Central Washington University. 

 

Professionally, Les worked in Personnel for Boeing in Seattle, was Personnel Manager at DeCoto Aircraft in Yakima, and completed his career as a teacher at East Valley School District in Yakima.

 

Les and Jeanine retired in 2004 and enjoyed many, many years traveling the world together.

He was an avid artist and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends.

 

Les is survived by his wife, Jeanine Fosmire; daughters, Shelley (Dave) Smeback,

Cheryl (Michael) Sybouts, Denise (Don) Pettie, and Patty (John) Scarola; ten loving grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob (Laurie) Fosmire.  He was predeceased by his brother, Norman Fosmire.

 

A Celebration of Life is planned for August 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
