Obituary of Keith K. Gibson
Keith K. Gibson passed away after a long-term illness on June 14, 2023, in Olympia, Wash., his home of 33 years. He was born June 3, 1933, in Seattle, Washington. He also resided in Chehalis, Wash. (1978-1990) and Tacoma, Wash. (1961-1978).
Keith graduated from Corvallis High School in 1951, Seattle Pacific University in 1955 with a BA in Psychology, and the University of Washington in 1964 with a Master of Social Work. He married Marilyn R. Hill on Sept. 4, 1955, in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Army (1956-1958) and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Keith’s quiet and calm nature served him well in administration as a leader both in his profession and his family. Even when restricted by declining health, his interest in technology and science continued. Family was his center, and he enjoyed telling life stories to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved hiking, camping, running, backpacking, painting, music, reading, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gibson, of Olympia; sons, Kent Gibson, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Scott Gibson of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Karen Edison, of Olympia, Wash., Susan Wagaman of Olympia, Wash., and Sharilyn Gibson of Yelm, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Gildersleeve, of Gig Harbor, Wash., Joanne Lovelace, of Toledo, Wash., and Judy Chase, of Centralia, Wash. He was predeceased by his parents, Evan and Mary Gibson.
