Obituary of Roberta R. Wells

Roberta R. Wells passed away May 1, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, where she was born July 23, 1942, to Howard R. and Dorothy R. Wilhite.

Roberta graduated with the Olympia High School Class of 1960 and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Centralia College.  Professionally, she worked for various Washington State agencies, retiring in 2005 as an Information Technology Specialist at Washington State Employment Security Department.

Roberta chose to offer a ready smile and a positive face to the world.  She loved Disneyland, its idea of meeting the world with joy, sharing simple pleasures in the company of others, and offering support where needed.

That spirit guided her longtime memberships in organizations, including Altrusa International District 12 in Olympia, Seattle Children’s Hospital Holly Guild Association, Red Hat Society, and IAPES.  For more than 30 years, she raised funds supporting girls’ educations and sick kids and their families.

Roberta loved music, theater, ballet/dance, reading, shopping, travel, and going to casinos. She also enjoyed volunteer activities and social activities with friends and family.

She is survived by her sons, Walter Wells of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Brett Wells of Chehalis, Washington; daughter, Robyn Wells of Gig Harbor, Washington; five grandchildren; brother, David Wilhite of Longview, Washington; and sister, Patricia Lawrence of Edmonds, Washington.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, May 22, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Squaxin Park (formerly Priest Point Park) Shelter #1 (Rose Garden), 2600 East Bay Dr. NE, Olympia, WA 98506.

Memorial donations may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital, M/S 818, PO Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98145-5005, or online by clicking HERE.
