Obituary of Daniel Ray Kaberlein

Daniel Ray Kaberlein passed away of pancreatic cancer on March 24, 2023, in Yelm, Washington, his home of 15 years.  He was born September 14, 1952, to Eugene M. Kaberlein and Diane G. White in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Over the years, he also resided in Surprise, Arizona; Portales, New Mexico; Madrid, Spain; San Bernadino, California; Okinawa, Japan; and Knobnoster, Missouri.

Daniel graduated from high school in San Bernadino and college in Portales.  He married Rosanna Grimard in Lake Arrowhead, California, and served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant.  He then worked 10 yeas in Civil Service, followed by work as a carpenter, which he loved.

Daniel loved a great debate and could be stubborn at times.  He had a great love of music and of God.  He enjoyed reading the Bible, going to the beach, decorating for the holidays, yard work, and hanging out with his wife. He also loved karaoke and playing music at “Danny’s Disco Diner of the Garage,” which he converted into a 1950’s diner.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanna Kaberlein; son, Nathan Kaberlein of Portales, New Mexico; daughters, Michelle Zion of Yelm, Washington, and Tanya Mandt (Robert) of Moore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Randy Kaberlein (Natividad) of Odessa, Texas, Chris Kaberlein of Yucaipa, California, and Lee Kaberlein of Yucaipa, California; and sisters, Carol Sue Broome (Donald) of Oregon, Mary Jenkin (Steve) of Thorne Bay, Alaska, Ellie Avila (John) of Crosbyton, Texas, Gina Cardamone (Darryl) of Yucaipa, California, and Adore Sayre (Tom) of Hesperia, California.  He was predeceased by his mother, Diane White; maternal grandparents, Eleanor and Homer Lee; and paternal grandparents, Helen and Ray Bosley.

Services were on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 2830 Willamette Drive NE, Lacey, WA 98516.
