Obituary of Allen F. Stanley

Allen F. Stanley, age 75, died February 23, 2023, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, Washington.

He was born January 21, 1948, in Prairie City, Oregon, and lived in Seneca, Oregon. His father died when Al was three and the family moved to Hockinson two years later. He married Linda Svir when he was 17. They had a son, Warren, and daughter, Debbi. He later married Kim Stanley.  After their divorce, Ronda Erickson became his partner for over 20 years until 2016, when she died. Al loved all three partners and spoke fondly of each of them often.

Al lived for many years in Camas, Washington, and worked at Crown Z as a welder and The Shop as a mechanic.  His neighbor and friend, Darren Schmid, visited him often, especially after Ronda’s death. He often brought racing memorabilia to cheer him up.

Al loved race cars. He was a “pit man” for John Kieper at Portland International Raceway and the NASCAR Winston West Grand National Circuit. He traveled with Kieper to a NASCAR race in Australia. He also restored and built cars with his longtime friends, Dwight Svir and Carl Carrico. He was an active member of the Camas Moose, and loved to cook, visit casinos and travel to Alaska to be with his brother, Ray, and his extended family.

He is survived by his children, Warren Stanley, Debbi Cady, Dove Thompson, David Gawron, and Dennis and Brian Erickson. He had nine siblings, Betty Stanley Reed, John Stanley, Etta, Richard, Robert and Ray Fellows, Rita Fellows Carlson and Kathy Fellows Carr. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Stanley; mother, Virginia Stanley Fellows; and brother, Roy Fellows.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on April 1, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Nomad Country Club Mobile Home Estates Clubhouse, 10505 NE 53rd Ave., Vancouver, WA 98686.
