Lesley Wyatt

Obituary of Lesley E. Wyatt

Lesley E. Wyatt passed away February 26, 2023, in Lacey, Washington.  She was born March 15, 1944, to Merle and Betty Gillis in Olympia, Washington, where she grew up with siblings, Alfred, Bill and Darlene.

Shortly after graduating from Wilson High School, she moved to Hawaii to work in a bank.  While there, she met Halsey Wyatt, an engineer, whom she later married.  Moving to the East Coast, she and Halsey quickly began a family.  They welcomed two boys, Halsey Alan and Christopher Eric, and when Halsey’s work took the family abroad, they lived for many years in Spain and later Scotland. While in Scotland, Lesley and Halsey divorced and she returned to the U.S. with Christopher.

After returning to Washington state, Lesley continued working as a massage therapist, which she had begun in Scotland.  She eventually opened her own solo practice, which she ran for nearly 30 years.  In addition to her massage therapy business, she was also a yoga instructor.

Leslie enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and loved several activities, including country western dancing, riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle, and playing sports, including SCUBA diving, running marathons, playing tennis and snow skiing.  She was a member of the local chapter of several clubs:  Eagles, Moose, VFW, and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Lesley is survived by her sons, H. Alan Wyatt (Darcy) of Clovis, New Mexico, and Christopher Wyatt of Olympia; and sister, Darlene McGaughy of Kennewick, Washington. She is predeceased by her father, Merle S. Gillis; mother, Betty C. Tschida; stepfather, Robert W. Tschida; and brothers, William “Bill” Gillis and Alfred Gillis.

A memorial service to honor Lesley’s life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Lacey Bible Church, 6646 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
