Obituary of Wessley Alan Stover

Wessley Alan Stover passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022, at home in Lacey, Washington, his residence of 20 years.  Alan was born November 23, 1947, to Louis Wessley Stover and Floy Loree (Dahlin) Stover in Yakima, Washington.

 

Alan graduated from North Thurston High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967, attending bootcamp in San Diego, California.  He served in Vietnam and fought in the Battle of Khe Sahn (1968).  He re-enlisted on November 4, 1971, rose to the rank of E-5 Sgt., and received an Honorable Discharge on November 1, 1974.

 

Professionally, he was an FAA-certified air traffic controller and a Quality Engineer and Inspector with Boeing, a position from which he retired after 34 years.

 

Alan enjoyed woodworking, hunting, auto mechanics, fast cars, and motorcycles.  He was fascinated with the history of fishing reels and rods.

 

Alan is survived by his wife, Sierra Stephens-Stover of Lacey; his mother, Floy Loree (Dahlin) Stover; daughter, Darlyn Maile Roberson (Jason) of Brunswick, Georgia; son, Gary Alan Stover (Jessica) of Tenino, Washington; stepson, Wade A. Stephens (Lau) of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Anderson (Jerry) of Gig Harbor, Washington, Karen Wynne (Jim) of Spokane, Washington, and Janet Sanders (Mike) of Shelton, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his father, Louis Wessley Stover; and grandparents, Elmer Dahlin and Hazel Garrison Dahlin, and Victor Stover and Effie Den Boer Stover.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the local Wounded Warrior Project at 3315 S. 23rd St., Unit 310, Tacoma, WA  98405, or at 1349 W. Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309.
