Obituary of Betty Gile (Muir) VanVleck

Betty C. Gile (Muir) VanVleck was born in Olympia, Wash., on May 28, 1936, to Claude S. Gile and Laura N. Gile at the family home. She was one of nine children, growing up in a large family on the Gile Blueberry Farm on Gull Harbor Road. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1955. She lived in Alaska; Issaquah, Wash.; and most recently in Olympia. She loved roller and ice skating, and gardening most of all.

 

Betty passed away January 31, 2023, in Olympia.  She is survived by one sister, Jean Covington; youngest brother, Kenny Gile; daughter, Paula (Muir) Ford (Raymond, husband); three stepchildren, Bruce, Valaree and Gregory; two grandchildren, Bethany and Lindy; and four great-grandchildren.

 

Thanks to numerous friends, neighbors, and family for her care over the years. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Colonial Estates Clubhouse, 3700 14th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501. Lunch will be served.
