Obituary of Ronald Dennis Sullivan

Ronald Dennis Sullivan passed away January 15, 2023, in Yelm, Washington.  He was born March 16, 1947, to Albert Dennis Sullivan and Cleola Maxine (Conner) Sullivan in Vancouver, Washington. Over the years, he lived in Longview, Washington; Corvallis, Oregon; Torrance, California; Newberg, Oregon; Portland, Oregon (1996-2008); Olympia, Washington (2008-2014); Spanaway, Washington (2014-2019); and Yelm (2019-2023).

Ron attended a year at Eastern Washington State College in Cheney, Washington, and served in the National Guard.  He married Cynthia Kaufman on July 22, 1968 in Vancouver, Washington, and Roberta Fletcher on May 19, 1975, in Vancouver.

Professionally, Ron worked for Weyerhaeuser in Longview; Oregon Freeze Dry in Corvallis; Thrifty Drugs in Torrance; and was a self-employed window cleaner in Newburg.

Ron had a quick wit and a lively sense of humor.  He was generous and caring with those he was close to.  He preferred to live a simple life and was a homebody in his later years.  He enjoyed playing with and caring for his dog, Benji, and spending time with the dogs outside in the sunshine.  Ron liked writing letters to keep in touch with loved ones at a distance.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, listening to music, and watching movies.

He is survived by his sons, Chris, Jeff, and Kevin; daughter, Kari; grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, and Gina; and brothers, Jack and Steve.  He was predeceased by his parents.

Services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 2830 Willamette Dr. NE, Lacey, WA 98516.  Memorial donations may be made to Foundation for Alcoholism Research, PO Box 31135, Chicago, IL 60631.
