I met Doug at REI a couple of years ago when we all still worked in-office. Later becoming permanently remote, him and I continued to keep in touch. At some point during 2020, a fellow coworker created a fun online cooking page where many of us shared meal photos and recipes during quarantine. I (and really everyone on the webpage!) always enjoyed seeing what Doug was making next in the kitchen - it was quite impressive! We loved talking food. We often also chatted about VW - he had such pride in his car and would sometimes share photos of his outings in it across Western Washington. I myself have a Golf SportWagen in the same blue color, so it always made for fun conversation. He spoke so fondly of his family, but above all else, Doug was incredibly kind. I feel lucky to have known him during his career at REI, and send my upmost condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest In Peace, Doug!
