Stan Lunde

Obituary of Stan Lunde

Stan Lunde of Vancouver, Washington passed away on December 9, 2022, at the age of 69, while in Hospice Care at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.  He was born in Santa Monica, California, on February 19, 1953, to Lynn and Dottie Lunde, who moved their family to Vancouver and the wonders of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Stan immediately fell in love with all things outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and skiing.   He graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School in 1971 and went on to play football at Colorado State University.  A business degree was completed at WSU.  He ran a successful paint contracting business for decades, always bringing in and teaching younger men to learn the skill of painting that would give them a good career.

His involvement in his kids’ athletic pursuits brought him great happiness.  Often coaching and drawing from his own experience, he taught them, as well as so many of their friends, the value of hard work and believing in their abilities.  He especially loved the family house full of his kids’ friends.

Stan was a true lover of life and daily saw it as an adventure.  His passionate pursuit of opportunities led him to one of his all-time favorite joys, paintballing! Joining a professional team of guys more than half his age, he traveled the country to local and national competitions, winning many.

Stan was born with a sweet and kind soul and brought a smile to literally everyone he met.  Always an optimist, he continued spreading joy and love ‘til the very end, with friends, family and strangers.  Special thanks to the caregivers at St. Peter, who worked with great respect and kindness to give him a peaceful passing as he ended his struggle with dementia.

A strong believer in the Lord, his faith kept him firmly at peace.  He knew where he was heading….to Jesus and countless reunions in Heaven, including his dad, Lynn Lunde “Bear;” and his brother, Chris.  He will be remembered with much love by his son and faithful companion, Scott; his son Brent (Erinn); and daughter, Kelly; his loving mother, Dot; sister, Deborah (Marvin); aunt, Mary Anne; three beautiful grandkids, Audrey, Joshua and Jude; and his former wife, Marilyn.

There will be a family celebration in Spring 2023 with a spreading of ashes at his favorite fishing spot. We encourage you to celebrate in your own way, a remembrance of Stan……a truly one-of-a-kind man, who lived such a unique Adventure called Life.
