We have such wonderful memories of Aunty Betty and all the happy times we all spent together. She was a very special woman who could "liven up" any room she entered! She always made us feel welcome no matter the amount of chaos our visits created - and we created plenty of it! We were blessed to have had both Aunty Betty and Uncle Jim to enrich our lives with love and laughter. We will cherish our memories forever.
With loving thoughts,
The Weir Family

My dear friend Betty was a brilliant woman and an inspiration to all who knew her. So many memories. We grew up together and stayed in touch until she died. Years ago I visited Betty and Jim in Fitchburg where she gave me a history lesson and a guided trip of Boston. We enjoyed the musical “Little Shop of Horrors”, the famous Isabelle Gardner Museum ( before the heist of famous paintings) and shopped at Filene’s until it closed. I recall meeting Betty and Jim in El Centro, California and drinking margueritas in Algadones, Mexico. I was also a part of that crazy, delightful trip to Quebec for a friend’s wedding. Betty touched us all and leaves us with so many happy thoughts.

Betty and I met as-very young children, she was 4 and I was 5. The Gardler’s home had a fence between their yard and the neighbors with a gate between the two yards. Betty and I spent many hours “riding the the fence posts” to all sorts of imaginary cowboy scenarios. We remained close friends for the rest of our lives. Betty and Jim took my family on a trip to New York City. It was our first visit to New York and they made sure we saw all the sights. 1999 we travelled with Betty and Jim and two other
couples to a wedding in Quebec. It was a memorable trip, as again we had never travelled through Vermont or Quebec. Many
times they were our hosts at the Cape. Betty was always lively and entertaining. I was very privileged to have such a wonderful
friend. Heaven is a better place with Betty there. May her family revel in her legacy.

So many people, organizations and communities were enriched by Betty's participation. She had an abundance of enthusiasm and dedication to everything she did. Such a special Canadian lady!
I first met Betty at Applewild School. She was a remarkable colleague, leader and mentor. We chaperoned dances together: after cross country skiing behind the school and dinner out! We orchestrated Halloween events and helped ninth graders practice their graduation speeches. Betty had a very specific way she thought students should march in to the ceremony and would make sure they spaced themselves appropriately AND maintained good posture.
Betty and Jim and Steve and I shared so many delightful experiences in Fitchburg, Groton, North Truro, Goose Rocks Beach, not to mention our many trips to theaters in Cambridge, Boston and Wellfleet. We cross country skied, dined out, cooked for one another. Jim and I shared a common Lebanese heritage and a strong interest in the stock market. Betty was a better Lebanese cook than I am. A highlight of every year was the annual Reheiser Christmas Party!
Jim and Betty loved exploring houses that were under construction in their neighborhood in North Truro and we happily tagged along. One New Years' Eve, at our home at Goose Rocks Beach, after the midnight cheer, we took a walk on the beach with flashlights. The moonlight was bright and beautiful that night. There was a home under construction at the far end of the beach, so we went in and climbed all around....and made it out safely!
Jim and Betty were a team.. They supported each other and their children in their educational and personal pursuits. We are all lucky to have had them in our lives and they were very lucky to have found one another. They lived their lives to the fullest.

Dear Kim, Karen and Jim,
We were sad to hear of Betty's passing. We were lucky enough to spend time with Jim and Betty on our weekly summer vacation at Cape Cod. We met on the beach so many years ago and we continued to meet each time we returned. We have fond memories of the time we shared. Those visits became part of what we looked forward to, and we anticipated those times each year. They became an essential part of those happy memories, and we value the friendship that was developed. Those memories remain in our heart, and we hope the happy memories of your mom will give you comfort and hope during this time of sadness. She leaves you with a legacy of joy and love. Our since sympathy, George and Eleanor and family.

Kim and Family: There was a great day, not too long ago, when a wedding took place, Nicole's. Your mom and sister were there enjoying the festivities. She was smiling and watching everyone. Karen was also glad to be there. That memory brings a smile to my face as it was a day your family had a wonderful gathering to be cherished. As neighbors, we always enjoyed chatting with her on the neighborhood walks. Always hard to let our parents go, but they truly live on with us. Bless your family as you greet the next generation in the next few months, Love Terry and Gail Oxley
