I will miss Tim more than I can say. He was/is a kind, loving, courageous man who spoke the truth and loved dearly. We are all better people to have known and loved him.

We met Tim about 25 years ago as he delivered supplies to us while were building on our home. I never saw him without a smile on his face since meeting him those many years ago. After his retirement we met up again and he joined our Olympia Story Tellers group. Tim could always be counted on to tell a story and he often accompanied it with a little guitar playing. His love of our state parks meant he then volunteered with our state park friends group and stepped up to serve on our nonprofit board. Tim tackled everything as a fun project. He traveled for a month around Washington state parks in his RV overseeing volunteer surveys as volunteer representative of Washington State Parks.
Visiting with Tim was always a pleasure. Lynne and I will miss his undying friendship. Stet

My favorite memory of Tim Sr. was Tim II's childhood birthday parties at his Dad's house. He was always so good with us boys. He would let us play knee football in the house, dodgeball up/down the stairs, stay up late watching movies, and just be ourselves. Tim always had a smile for you too. He will be dearly missed.

Tim was one of the most interesting people I ever knew. We first met at one of the Sunday afternoon musical Hootenanies at Traditions in Olympia. I was impressed with his openness and enthusiasm, his willingness to offer compliments and helpful criticism, and his general gregariousness. I envied his ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone in any situation. We met periodically to share ideas about song writing and to talk about most any topic that came to mind. I hadn't seen him for several months when I heard about his death, and was hit very hard by it. It wasn't until seeing the photos on this site that suddenly realized how much I feel his absence. He was his own guy, and I'll miss him a lot.

I had the privilege of working with Tim for many years at UPS. He had a way of taking rookies drivers aside, explaining to them what the job really required. That type of low key leadership is rare. He always asked how I was doing with a sincerity that was refreshing. He influenced me in many positive ways. He well be missed.

I only knew Tim for a very short time, after meeting him on a cruise in 2009 with his sister Mary, but he made a big impact on my life in respect of living life the simple way. We kept in touch and did meet up a few times over the years which was always a delight listening to his conversation which was very varied, the short time I knew him I know he loved his music.
Tim passing was the biggest shock to me, living so far in the UK I only wish I could have been able to see him for one last time.
Rest in peace Tim I am sure you are playing your guitar and teasing anyone with a funny accent like you did with me. Xxx

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Tim's passing. My most recent visit with him was at the McCleary Library. Tim was a fascinating person. Honesty, loyalty and true friendships meant the most to him. He tried to teach my grandson how to play the guitar, but the boy was more interested in cars. Tim was fine with that. Everyone can't be a musician. Someone has to be in the audience. The first time I met Tim was at a performance for the benefit of the McCleary Museum by Dr. Arima and the Oly Improv group. Admission was by donation and Tim gave generously. Then Dr. Arima encouraged Tim to get his guitar and join them. What a show they put on!
Yes, my dear friend, you will be remembered and missed for a long, long time. My heart goes out to your family and the rest of your friends. Heaven sings.

I only knew Tim a few years in our FOSLS (Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia) group and I am left wishing desperately that I had had a chance to know him longer. Tim was always right there to help and he did it cheerfully and with an energy that is unmatched by anyone I know. He taught me how important it is to lift others up in spirit every day. He certainly always lifted mine and I am eternally grateful for this lesson. I miss him terribly but I know that God has gained an incredible angel. Rest in peace Tim.
