Obituary of Bennie J. Simmons

Bennie J. Simmons passed away May 23, 2022, in Olympia, Washington.  He was born November 2, 1934, to Brook and Maude (Conner) Simmons in Marshall, North Carolina.  He resided in Lacey, Washington, for 41 years.

 

Bennie served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from the Army.  He married Ok Sun Han in Tacoma, Washington.  He was quick witted, funny, and always had a one-liner.  He loved reading, working on cars, and building things around the house.

 

Bennie is survived by his wife, Ok Sun Han; daughter, Felicia Tilley, and son-in-law, Micah Tilley; daughter, Casandra Simmons; and four beloved grandchildren, Micah Ben, Avery, Hudson and Lucas, who were his pride and joy.  He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Christine Lunsford (Jack), Eunice George (Ray), Ray Simmons, Nina Faye (Joe), and Bud Simmons (Marie).

 

Services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240^th St., Kent, WA 98042.
