Jon and I became good friends years ago and spent countless hours together in AA meetings and bible studies. Although he seldom voluntarily contributed, when asked he responded wth the wisdom of "truth". I've never been closer to anyone, who suffered more. Jon influenced me most by a simple life dedicated to God. His faith exemplifies my latest favorite scripture was 2Cor16-18. Towards the end, his favorite was Ps 130 best explained to me by Ps 119:81. We prayed for each other daily for years. Thank God he now rests in eternal peace.

Even though we never met in person, Jon and I were kindred spirits sharing in common many aspects of our lives growing up in the South Shore neighborhood in Chicago as later confirmed in several Facebook conversations. We both shared a love of music and both of us attended the Chicago Conservatory of Music. We both shared a love of baseball and the local professional baseball teams, along with being affiliated with South Shore Little League. I will especially miss Jon's kindness and his thoughtful consideration of many critical issues facing our country and the world today. I will remember Jon at the end being so courageous in coping with his illness. Jon lived a good honorable and respectful life that we can all admire.

The South Shore/South Chicago Facebook site will truly miss Jon’s posts. He had interesting things to say about our home town and will be greatly missed. Did not know him personally but did get to know him thru his posts. Rest In Peace Jon. Sending condolences to his family.

This is Marla Boarini. I graduated South Shore High School with Jon in 1966. We've been corresponding for the past 12 years as we had much in common. We both loved the Cubbies, deep study in the scriptures, and esides jazz,...Steve Goodman (a Chicago born folksinger/songwriter). Rest in peace, my friend.

I became to know Jon through “MEG fellowship”. We have been in the same group a couple times in the past 10 years or so. We were in the same group (because only one group) during the summer Bible study.
Jon always prays for what I mentioned during the prayer request. I, my family, the Chinese Church here, and even the relations/tension between Taiwan and China are in Jon’s heart.
I will miss him!
