Obituary of Brody James Edwards

Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Brody James “Bro” Edwards, entered into God’s Kingdom on April 3, 2022, after a tragic accident.

Brody was born to John and Sherry Edwards on December 2, 2006, in Olympia, Washington. He lived a full, active life. Growing up, Brody would keep up with his older sister, Courtney, eventually surpassing her in all their outdoor antics. He learned to ride his bike at only two years old. Court and Bro were always outside climbing, riding, and getting dirty.

As a young boy, Brody could be found outside riding his bike, quad, or anything else with wheels. He loved to ride his bike to and from Pioneer Elementary School and enjoyed “Walk-n-Roll” with his schoolmates. Brody had fun playing soccer with his cousins on the Rowdies and then on the Oly Bears, where they took second in the State Rec Cup. He then attended Tumwater Middle School, where he began his wrestling career in 7th grade. As a freshman at Black Hills High School, he lettered in golf and in wrestling, competing at the WIAA State Wrestling Cup. Brody thoroughly loved his Wolfpack family.

For vacationing, Bro loved going to the Dunes House in Oregon, Sunriver, Disneyland, camping at Potholes and many other places; houseboat trips to Lake Shasta; and motorcycling and snowmobiling trips with Dad and buddies. Every place they went, Bro would always find and frequent the candy store.

At the age of 13, Bro saved up for and bought his own boat. He had a blast pulling his friends around Black Lake behind his boat. He loved to swim, boat, fish and any other lake shenanigans they could find. Some of the many outdoor activities Brody loved include shooting clay pigeons, going for jeep rides, adventuring in the woods, and exploring new places.

Brody accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2013, and attended the Church of Living Water his whole life. He also enjoyed going to WyldLife at Tumwater Middle School and YoungLife at Black Hills High School. Brody enjoyed two years of youth camp at Collide with his Living Water youth group.

He was always outdoors, working, riding, fixing things and breaking them. Most who knew Bro, knew of his stinkery sense of humor and ingenious practical jokes. He could always make any situation light and fun. Underneath his rowdy, tough-boy exterior was a tenderhearted young man who loved his family and friends deeply. Despite his allergies, he loved everyone’s pets, and would suffer the consequences for all the snuggles he gave them.

Brody was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Edwards and Ronald Soiberg; great-grandmother, Marjorie Soiberg; and older sister, Audrey Joy, who died as an infant.  He is survived by his parents, John and Sherry; sister, Courtney Jane; grandparents, Bob and Mary Vernetti; grandmother, Connie Soiberg; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

The Edwards family is beyond grateful to all of you who have loved on them so well during this unspeakably difficult time.

Donations may be made in Brody’s name to Black Hills Wrestling Boosters, 7741 Littlerock Road SW, Olympia, WA 98512; or Homes of Hope Romania at https://fmi.works/wimberly-tim-and-dhana.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”  --John 13:34
