Obituary of Karin Kempinski Chapinski

Karin Kempinski Chapinski passed peacefully on February 11, 2022, at the age of 80.  She was born on September 27, 1941, in Brand-Erbisdorf, Germany.

Known as Omi by many, if not all, she lived a beautiful life.  A lovely lady of many talents, from crocheting to gardening, crafting, and cooking. She found joy in being with her family; watching her grand and great-grandchildren grow; snuggling her cat, Tobykins; and lunching with her lady friends.  She also loved herself a good, strong cup of coffee.

In her younger years, she spent her time raising her children, waitressing, and later became a caregiver.  She also loved her many trips to Germany, visiting her extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her love, Roy Barrett; her daughter, Patricia Kempinski; parents, Martin Helmut Malke and Wilhemine Fees; brother, Reinhold Malke; nephew, Peter Malke; and great-nephew, Andreas Malke.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Lorraine Beritich (Chris), Doris Russo (Ralph), Susie Nelson (Rodney); son, Michael Kempinski (Valerie); grandchildren, Nicholas Russo (Amanda), Krystal Newman, Michael Kempinski (Kelly), Cassie Edwards (Kenny), Randy Kempinski (Nicole), Amanda Farrar O' Lague (John), Jody Clifford (Ryan), Kelcie Vogt (Nick), Ryan Nelson (Jackilynn), Christopher Beritich, and Tamara Kempinski; great-grandchildren, Leah Edwards, Gage Burge, Ayden Edwards, Tyler Kempinski, Hannah Deubert, Kairi Edwards, Leah Kempinski, Layla Newman, Rylie Kempinski, Henry Newman, Ivy Newman, Koda Weed, Norah Vogt, Paxton Weed, Gabroyal Farrar, Anastasia Edwards, Kensie Vogt, and Michael Clifford; nephew, Haiko Malke (Ilonas); great-nephew, Mario Malke; and many, many friends.

Omi left a mark on the world, one of compassion and kindness.  She taught us many things about life, except how to live it without her.

A private burial will be held on March 5, 2022, at the Yelm Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life for all who loved her will be held on March 5, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at The Nisqually Pines Community Center, 16949 Port Orford Blvd. SE, Yelm, WA 98597.
