Betty Ann Jameson-Burr

Obituary of Betty Ann Jameson-Burr

Betty Ann Jameson-Burr, 84, died peacefully on February 10, 2022, with her family by her side.

Betty Ann was born in Augusta, Maine, on March 30, 1937, to George Arthur and Mildred Mason Christopoulos. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1955 and was a proud Maine native. As a teenager in Gardiner, she worked with her family in her father's restaurant, The Central Cafe, something she loved to reminisce about. Though forever a New Englander at heart, she loved to travel, and lived many places throughout her life, including Puerto Rico, Colorado, Florida, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest.

She married the love of her life, Jim Jameson, in October, 1982. They were married for 11 years before his death in 1993. In 2003, she married her second love, Daniel Burr, and was his companion until his death in 2014.

Betty Ann had an exquisite sense of style and worked as a manager in retail fashion for years in Freeport, Maine. She was a master of creating beautiful spaces, and her passion for nature and design came to life through her gorgeous gardens and inviting interior decor. She was an accomplished piano player, loved the arts and theater, and was a huge sports fan, especially baseball, golf, and tennis.

Betty Ann had a fabulous sense of humor, loved to laugh, and attracted others with her warm and fun-loving nature. She was independent and resilient, and always put the needs of others before her own. She spent years as a hospice volunteer, caring for others in their final hours. She adored and was adored by her family and friends.

Betty Ann is survived by her two daughters, Beth Hall Vellante and Susan Hall Jameson; her son, Michael Alton Hall; son-in-law, Val Cannon; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kelleher; and four grandchildren, Gregory Arthur Vellante, Jonathan Patrick Vellante, Tatiana Maria Vellante, and Seana Gretchen Hall. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Alexander; brothers, William Christopoulos (Dorothy), and Paul Christopoulos (Pat); and sister-in-law, Carol Christopoulos; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, grandcats, and granddogs. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Pushard (Oscar), and Pauline Christopoulos Harrington; and brothers, Arthur Christopoulos (Betty), James Christopoulos, John Christopoulos (Marilyn); and brother-in-law, Daniel Alexander.
